PFA on new servers 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Hello guys!

DO you know anything about PFA on new Nehalem-based servers.

I've read different kinds of documents that showed me that now we don't have 6 componentes covered/monitored by PFA.

I used COmpetitive Sales TOol and other documents but the information conflict.

have you experienced the same situation?

Thanks

These new servers (like x3550 M2, x3650 M2 and HS22 blade) all have the new IMM (integrated management module) and the BIOS is based on UEFI.

With these kind of questions please make sure you first look in the PLET of the product.
When you look at the announcement letter (or PLET) of the x3650 M2 you will find:

PFA on HDD options, memory, power supply, and fans, to alert the system administrator of an imminent component failure

But I agree that not all documents has the same info,,,,, in this case the PLET is leading.

Hello Kernel!
THanks for the reply.

What do you believe in?
THese new servers lack pfa on processors and VRM?

I talked to Brazil and LA System X Product Manager and they told me that PFA covers all the 6 components.
THis is very strange.
Some documents say:
- ALl the 6 componentes are monitored
- Only HDD, memory, Power Supply and FAns
- Only Memory and HDD

This is terrible because I don't know what to say to our customer.

Thanks

As I said. The announcement letter is leading.

You should ask a formal question to IBM support ... until than, stick to the information in the PLET.

Kind regards, Cornel

Hello Cornel!
Ok..I've got what you said.

I've already found some mistakes in PLET that's why sometimes I don't trust 100%. I've already submitted a formal question to IBM support and they told me about the 6 components. That's why I am really confused.

Thanks Cornel!

Best regards,

Bruno
