Later this year we will see the next version of IBM Director which will be called IBM Systems Director 6.1.
The interface will be browser-based, more cross-brand and extendible.

What would you like to be added or changed ?

How about some kind of "check for new version" function that would also allow for dowloading and updating the Server application to that newly released version.
The upgrading of Director has been a bit clunky in the past IMHO.
Perhaps they have already done that ?

it will be possible to upgrade from director 5.20 to 6.1.
I don't know which method they are going to use but upgrading will be possible.
Updating the server through the web is not what I'm aware of that it will be possible. Don't place any bets on that

Just heard the following:
"IBM intends to provide a Systems Director migration tool, in 1Q09, to facilitate customer migrations from IBM Director 5.20.x"

So it seams that a tool will be available but not at GA date of Systems Director 6.1 as that version will be released this year.

As far as updating software. Each component of Systems Director has its own version and can/will be updated through the internet. Steps how to setup and use will be documented.
