On the IBM Support site at the UpdateXpress webpage new options has become available.  You can now update your server using the Library Version, the Installer or use IBM Director Update Manager.

Let us explain either one and where to get it:

UpdateXpress

The IBM UpdateXpress can help reduce your cost of computing by providing an effective and simple way to update device drivers, server firmware and firmware of supported options contained within the server on most of your System x and BladeCenter products. If you have purchased an IBM server, UpdateXpress is available for download at no additional charge.

UpdateXpress System Packs (UXSP) contain an integration-tested bundle of online, updateable firmware and device drivers for your servers. The UXSP Libraries below provide a zip file which contains the latest UXSPs for all supported System x and BladeCenter Servers. UXSPs for individual systems as well as individual firmware and driver packages are also available for download on http://www.ibm.com/systems/support.

Library Version

These are ALL drivers available the for specific operating system in one downloadable file. For Windows this is apporx. a 580 MB download.

UpdateXpress System Pack Installer

UpdateXpress System Pack Installer deploys UpdateXpress System Pack updates. It allows you to update your firmware and device drivers through your current operating system. It can be run from a command-line interface or the GUI. Use the links below to access the latest version of UpdateXpress System Pack Installer and its associated documentation.

To use the UpdateXpress System Pack Installer, you must have the appropriate UpdateXpress System Pack for the specific server and operating system.  These UpdateXpress System Pack per server can be downloaded on the support pages of that specific server.
