New ServicePac for Support Line for VMware offerings

IBM has had a ServicePac offering for VMware and this included support for VMware, IBM Director and the operating systems running in a virtual machine. They now have announced several additional ServicePacs for VMware to differentiate and for you to choose what level of support you need.

It is divided in a ServicePac "Enhanced", "Platinum" and "Gold". We will give you more information when you click on one of tha tabs in this content.

IBM Software Support Services – ServicePac for Support Line for VMware offers comprehensive support for IBM System x™ and VMware solutions in the following packages:

  • ServicePac “Enhanced”
    The robust, full support offering for customers using VMware in production and want an integrated support contract incl. Operating System and Director support to eliminate finger pointing
  • ServicePac “Platinum”
    For customers using VMware in production and have other support contracts for the Operating System and IBM Director / RDM etc..
  • ServicePac “Gold”
    The low cost, entry level for customers who are testing or evaluating VMware before moving into production.

ServicePac Enhanced

The VMware ServicePac is designed to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for customers investing in VMware on System x servers by not only providing support on the VMware product but support on the Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems within the VMware partitions and IBM Director.

Support for the solution

  • not just the product: Provision of software support from a single support organisation which supports the solution that is being implemented at the client rather than individual product support
  • Customers do not have to contract separately for VMware / Microsoft / Linux and Director support just because….
    Microsoft don’t support VMware, IBM Director or Linux combined
    VMware don’t support Microsoft or Linux Operating Systems or IBM Director
    Linux vendors don’t support Microsoft and VMware Operating Systems or IBM Director
  • Consistent, high quality technical support for clients VMware environment even if that includes a mixed environment of Microsoft Windows and Linux partitions….
  • Problem ownership is retained by the Support Line delivery teams even if the problem has been sent to various 3rd parties for resolution.
