Bare in mind that the SM 10.10 upgrade is an offline process.

The key new features are:

More partitions and logins
  • DS4800 increased to 512 partitions and 2,048 logins
  • DS4700 / DS4200 increased to 128 partitions and 512 logins
  • Ideal for larger consolidations and server virtualization / blade servers
More mirrors per system
  • DS4800 increased to 128
  • DS4700 / DS4200 increased to 64
  • Ideal for environments looking to replicate/protect more applications/data
More FlashCopy images per logical drives
  • DS4800 increased to 16
  • DS4700 / DS4200 increased to 8
  • Ideal for creating an additional level of data protection and the means to improve the granularity of recovery and production data utilizationMore partitions and logins
Configurable drive replacement
  • GHS can become a permanent member of an array or to invoke the copy back command once the failed drive has been replaced
  • Ideal for SATA configurations where drive location isn’t important
Full-config RAID 10 and RAID 0 arrays
  • Ideal for very large databases or file systems, or those wishing to utilize more than 30 drives per LUN to maximize performance
Great than 2 TB LUNs (OS dependent)
  • Ideal for HPC environments and bandwidth-oriented applications that need to move large amounts of data with maximum throughput performance
License key for DS4800 Model 80 to 82 performance boost
RAID 6 on DS4700 Express and DS4200 Express
  • Protection against two different failure scenarios:  Functional failure of second drive and Unreadable sector on second drive
Hardware-assisted P+Q yields better performance
  • For bandwidth writes and two-drive reconstruction (compared to DP)
  • ONLY ~ 2-4% drop-off for MB/s (compared to RAID 5)
Enabled on a per-volume-group basis
Dynamic RAID level migration available
